Akwa Ibom State Executive Council, EXCO, has approved several key measures aimed at improving governance and service delivery across the state.
At its meeting on Wednesday, EXCO ratified plans for the delivery of Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, buses at the Lagos Seaport and the construction of a Passenger Terminal at the CNG Mega Station in Ikot Akpan/Obio Offot, Uyo.
The council also approved take-off requirements for the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission and directed immediate provision of essential facilities to achieve the 18-month target for improved power supply.
In addition, EXCO noted progress on the Ibom Medical City Project, which includes a 350-bed International Hospital and other facilities, scheduled for commissioning on June 23, 2026.
The council further received reports on the fourth phase of free food distribution to vulnerable persons across all 31 Local Government Areas, set to be completed before the end of June.
EXCO also acknowledged the transmission of twelve Executive Bills to the State House of Assembly and commended the Speaker and members for commencing public hearings on the proposed laws.
Governor Umo Eno, who chaired the meeting, thanked Akwa Ibom people for their support and urged eligible citizens to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise as a civic responsibility.
