Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has said true judicial independence depends on the welfare and dignity of judges.
The President stated this on Wednesday in Abuja while inaugurating 10 housing units for judges of the Federal High Court in Katampe District.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu said judges cannot deliver impartial justice without security, comfort, and dignity.
“True judicial independence rests on the dignity and welfare of our judges. We are building a judiciary where judges can work without fear, favour, or distractions,” he said.
The President noted that providing secure housing removes a major vulnerability in the justice system.
He added that his administration is committed to strengthening institutions and upholding the rule of law under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Contributing, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said the project was completed on schedule and reflects Tinubu’s commitment to an independent judiciary. He urged the beneficiaries to maintain the facilities.

On his part, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, said the housing units show renewed commitment to judicial independence.
