‎Trademore International Nigeria Limited has warned the Abia State government against proceeding with the planned commissioning of a motor park and railway station on disputed land at Ogwumabiri, Umuahia.

‎Counsel to the company, Nwoke J. Kalu, said the Abia State High Court, in a judgment delivered on July 30, 2025, issued a perpetual injunction restraining the state government from further entry into the disputed land.

‎He stated that the state government appealed the judgment, but the Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal on May 6, 2026, leaving the High Court’s injunction intact.

‎According to Kalu, the dismissal means the Abia State government has no legal authority to enter, occupy, or carry out any activity on the land, including commissioning the motor park and railway station allegedly built on the property.

‎“Any attempt by the government to proceed with the commissioning in defiance of the court order would amount to contempt of court and a direct affront to the rule of law,” he said.

‎Kalu called on the government to suspend all activities related to the planned commissioning. He added that the state Attorney General, Ikechukwu I. Uwanna, had been notified and urged to ensure compliance with the subsisting court order.

‎The dispute over Ogwumabiri land is expected to draw public and legal attention, especially given the appellate court’s ruling and ongoing debate over government compliance with court judgments.

‎Sources have alleged that the Abia State government has a history of disregarding court orders against it, and that Governor Alex Otti is determined to commission the facility soon.
