The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of Justice Joseph Oyewole as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

‎Newsbuka reports that the confirmation on Tuesday followed the consideration of a report by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, chaired by Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (APC, Ondo Central).

‎Presenting the report during plenary, Adegbonmire enjoined the Senate to receive and adopt the committee’s findings on the nomination of Justice Oyewole, a Justice of the Court of Appeal.

‎Recall that President Bola Tinubu had last Tuesday forwarded a letter to the Senate seeking Oyewole’s confirmation in line with Section 231(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

‎Immediately after receiving the correspondence, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio referred the request to the Judiciary Committee for screening and report.
