The Chief Eric Opah Campaign Organisation says its attention has been drawn to a panic-driven publication by a faceless group, apparently acting as a front for individuals who fear total defeat in the APC governorship primary election scheduled for tomorrow, May 21, 2026.

‎In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the Director General of the Eric Opah Campaign Organisation, Chief Charles Ogbonna, the campaign organisation said it would have ignored the fiction and propaganda being circulated by the group, which it described as working for those intimidated by the towering political stature of Chief Eric Opah—the strongest aspirant in the race for the Abia APC governorship ticket.

‎The campaign organisation said it had become necessary to respond for the sake of the unsuspecting public and to lay the facts bare.

‎The statement said the APC National Working Committee cleared all three governorship aspirants from Abia State. It added that it is on record that a membership card obtained via the e-registration portal has always been a basic qualification to contest for any elective office in the party.

‎The campaign organisation said that during the pre-primary stakeholders’ meeting held at the new Abia APC Secretariat, the State Working Committee stated in its progress report that all governorship and House of Representatives aspirants were successfully cleared, while only one aspirant for the State House of Assembly failed to scale through the screening process.

‎“It is therefore ridiculous that fear of defeat could drive some individuals into manufacturing propaganda aimed at deceiving the teeming supporters of Chief Opah and discouraging them from trooping out in their numbers tomorrow to vote for their beloved aspirant, Chief Eric Opah,” the statement said.

‎The campaign further advised members of Abia APC to ignore the falsehood, stating that Chief Eric Opah remains very much in the race.
