OWERRI — Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has commissioned the NASENI Skills Acquisition Centre in Owerri, calling on youths to acquire relevant skills to compete favourably in the global economy.
The project was facilitated by Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi in partnership with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI.
Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Uzodimma said the wave of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is gaining momentum and Nigeria must position its people with the requisite skills.
“As technology continues to reshape economies and redefine opportunities, investing in human capital has become an imperative rather than an option,” he said.
The Governor reaffirmed that skills development remains the surest pathway to employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic prosperity.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s #RenewedHope Agenda for prioritising technology, innovation, and capacity building through NASENI, describing the Agency’s commitment to empowering the people of Imo State as “truly commendable.”
“I encourage our people, especially our youths, to seize this opportunity by enrolling in the centre, acquiring relevant skills, and positioning themselves for success in an increasingly competitive global economy,” Uzodimma added.
Focus On Technology And Innovation
The NASENI Skills Acquisition Centre is expected to provide training in modern technical and vocational skills aligned with current industry demands.
The initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s push to equip Nigerians with skills in science, engineering and technology to drive job creation and economic growth.
