‎Troops Thwart Kidnap Attempt in Kogi, Kill One Terrorist

Troops of 12 Brigade, 2 Division Nigerian Army have thwarted a planned kidnap operation and killed one terrorist during an ambush in Lokoja LGA, Kogi State.

‎Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, said the operation was conducted on 30 May 2026 following credible intelligence on planned kidnapping in Jakura II Community.

‎Troops deployed to a suspected terrorist crossing point along Old Obajana–Tajimi Road and laid an ambush. During the firefight, one terrorist was neutralized while others fled with suspected gunshot wounds.

‎Items recovered include one AK-47 rifle, five magazines, 70 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one bandolier and mobile phones.

‎Commander 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, commended the troops and urged residents to provide timely intelligence to security agencies. He said further operations are ongoing to track fleeing terrorists.
