Troops of 1 Brigade, Operation FANSAN YANMA, have repelled a terrorist attack and neutralised one suspect during a follow-up operation in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

‎According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the troops responded to reports of terrorist activities in Kanoma District at about 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

‎Military sources said troops made contact with the assailants at Kanoma Hill and overpowered them with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to retreat.

‎“During exploitation operations ahead of Kanoma Hill, troops encountered suspected terrorists riding on two motorcycles. One terrorist was neutralised while others escaped,” a source told Zagazola Makama.

‎Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine loaded with four rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and two motorcycles believed to have been used by the attackers.

‎Military authorities confirmed that no casualty was recorded among the troops during the operation.

‎Operation FANSAN YANMA is the military’s ongoing offensive against banditry and terrorism in the North-West region.
