President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on his 85th birthday, describing him as an outstanding leader whose contributions to Nigeria’s political, economic and infrastructural development remain significant.

‎In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said General Babangida’s eight-year leadership left enduring marks on the nation’s political, economic and geographical landscape.

‎The President noted that the former military leader expanded the nation’s economy, established infrastructure, and created agencies and institutions that continue to serve the national interest.

‎President Tinubu also commended General Babangida for his foresight, wisdom and sense of equity, which he said contributed to the creation and sustenance of several states in the federation.
‎
‎He said General Babangida’s name and legacy would remain indelible in Nigeria’s history, adding that even in retirement, the former military President continues to offer valuable counsel and guidance to the nation.
