…swears in Administrator-General
As part of efforte to strengthen leadership and governance in Delta State’s tertiary institutions, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday inaugurated the Governing Councils of the state’s three universities and swore in Mr. Emasogbe Matthew Oghene as Administrator-General of the Delta State Civil Service.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor charged the new council members to bring their wealth of experience to bear on policy formulation, effective oversight, and overall advancement of the universities.
He urged them to uphold fairness, transparency, accountability, and collective responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
The Governor also announced major measures to improve the tertiary education system, including the construction of two 480-capacity hostels for each of the state’s nine tertiary institutions and new salary structures for academic and non-academic staff.
He further urged the councils to complement government support by pursuing greater financial sustainability and private sector investment for the universities.
