Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has challenged Nigerian youths to rise above poor governance and prepare to lead the country’s transformation.

‎Speaking at Madonna University, Okija Campus, during the “NextGen Mentorship and Leadership Initiative” themed _“Beyond Now: Raising the Next Generation of Leaders”_, Obi said leadership remains the most critical factor in national success or failure.

‎Addressing students’ concerns over corruption, unemployment, and limited opportunities, he acknowledged growing frustration but urged them not to despair.

‎“Leadership is the greatest determinant of a nation’s progress,” Obi said. “A true leader must possess character, competence, capacity and compassion, and be willing to make sacrifices for the people.”

‎He argued that Nigeria’s future depends on leaders who will protect lives, invest in education, create jobs, and strengthen institutions for sustainable development.

‎As part of his support for education, he presented a ₦15 million cheque to Madonna University to support its academic programmes.

‎“We can build the Nigeria of our dreams,” he said, “but it begins with preparing today’s young people to become tomorrow’s leaders.”
