The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has called for stronger collaboration between security agencies and oil industry operators to increase Nigeria’s crude production.
‎At a meeting in Port Harcourt on Monday, Musa said achieving the Federal Government’s production targets would require greater synergy among the Armed Forces, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
‎He urged increased intelligence sharing and collective efforts to safeguard oil infrastructure and end economic sabotage.
‎On his part, the Commander, Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE, Rear Admiral Olugbenga Oladipo, said troops would sustain operations against crude oil thieves and pipeline vandals.
‎Also speaking, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, assured stakeholders of a secure environment for oil operations. He urged companies to comply with MoUs with host communities to build trust.
‎In their separate responses, oil industry stakeholders said they expect the renewed partnership to improve protection of assets and create an enabling environment for investment.
