The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has called for stronger collaboration between security agencies and oil industry operators to increase Nigeria’s crude production.
At a meeting in Port Harcourt on Monday, Musa said achieving the Federal Government’s production targets would require greater synergy among the Armed Forces, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
He urged increased intelligence sharing and collective efforts to safeguard oil infrastructure and end economic sabotage.
On his part, the Commander, Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE, Rear Admiral Olugbenga Oladipo, said troops would sustain operations against crude oil thieves and pipeline vandals.
Also speaking, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, assured stakeholders of a secure environment for oil operations. He urged companies to comply with MoUs with host communities to build trust.
In their separate responses, oil industry stakeholders said they expect the renewed partnership to improve protection of assets and create an enabling environment for investment.
