The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, on Wednesday flagged off the distribution of SDGs Entrepreneurship Empowerment Starter Packs to beneficiaries across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
The programme was organised by the SDGs Project Support Unit in collaboration with the SHIFT Initiative.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Ngo Josephine Piyo, Governor Mutfwang said the initiative is part of his administration’s commitment to invest in the people and create opportunities for economic growth.
He described the programme as “a celebration of hope, opportunity, and the potential of the people of Plateau State.”
”Our greatest asset is our people — the ingenuity of our youth, the determination of our women, and the resilience of our entrepreneurs,” he said.
Governor Mutfwang also reaffirmed his commitment to women’s economic empowerment.
The Plateau State Project Coordinator, SDGs, Mrs. Nanbam Danjuma Jacobs Lot, said beneficiaries were trained in financial literacy, business management, and digital tools to help them grow sustainable businesses.
She noted that the programme supports SDG 1, SDG 8, SDG 9, and SDG 10.
The Executive Director, SHIFT Initiative, Dr. Mrs. Ulan Jatau, appreciated the Governor for supporting partnerships that bring direct benefits to citizens.
Also present were Hon. Bako Golkap, Chairman House Committee on Budget and Appropriation, who spoke on behalf of the Speaker; APC State Women Leader Hon. Longret Tokden; representatives of PLASMIDA; and Da Gyang Balak, Gwom Rwei of Vwang, representing the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs.
Starter packs distributed include tools for carpentry, tailoring, welding, barbing, lawn maintenance, and other trades.
