Bandits have killed a young boy and injured several worshippers during Maghrib prayers at a mosque in Namama community, Giwa LGA of Kaduna State.
According to security expert Bakatsine, the gunmen attacked on Sunday evening amid heavy rainfall, firing indiscriminately at worshippers. The attack left one boy dead and multiple others wounded.
The incident threw the community into mourning, with residents offering prayers for the recovery of the injured and for an end to insecurity across the North-West.
Bakatsine said residents are questioning how many more civilians must die in places of worship before effective protection measures are put in place for vulnerable communities.
Attacks on mosques across Nigeria have been rising, sparking fear among worshippers.
The assaults have involved shootings, bombings and abductions, especially in the North-West, North-East and parts of the North-Central, leaving several dead, injured or kidnapped during prayers.
