…security Beefed Up At Facility After Panic

‎The bomb disposal unit of the Nigeria Police Force has successfully defused a suspected improvised explosive device, IED, discovered at the New Bussa General Hospital in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

‎An eyewitness said the device was discovered by a security man attached to the hospital on duty.

‎The security operative immediately alerted conventional security personnel who responded to the scene and confirmed that it was an explosive device.

‎The discovery caused panic among patients, staff and visitors at the hospital. However, calm was restored after operatives from the bomb disposal unit arrived and successfully defused the device. It was later evacuated from the premises for safe destruction.

‎The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident in a statement.

‎He said the situation is now under control and that additional security personnel have been deployed to the hospital to forestall any further threat.

‎Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
