The Federal Government has flagged off the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Kaduna–Mando–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, performed the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at the event, Sani said the project, which had been abandoned for over three decades, would restore a strategic corridor for commerce, agriculture and security in the state.
He conveyed President Tinubu’s commitment to improving the lives of Kaduna residents through investments in infrastructure, security and inclusive economic development.
The Governor thanked the President for approving the project and releasing funds for its execution. He also appreciated the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, and the contractors, J. Patel & Sons Nigeria Limited, for undertaking the project.
Sani said the road would reconnect communities, unlock agricultural potential, facilitate trade, strengthen food security and reinforce national cohesion.
He added that traditional rulers and community leaders had expressed support for the project and the government’s efforts to strengthen security in the state.
