ZAMFARA — Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have reportedly killed scores of terrorists during a coordinated air and ground offensive in Zamfara State.
Security expert, Bakatsine, reported the development on his X handle on Monday.
According to the report, the operation targeted the camps of notorious bandit leaders Najaja, Dogo Gide, Nasanda and Buba Oris in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas.
It was launched after intelligence indicated that hundreds of fighters had assembled along the Bayarzaki riverline.
Precision airstrikes were carried out, followed by a ground ambush along the Gummi–Anka route. Troops were said to have pursued fleeing terrorists to Kombo High Ground, where intense fighting left many of them dead.
The report added that one soldier was injured during the operation, while ammunition was recovered during subsequent clearance operations.
The offensive marks another major blow to armed groups operating in Zamfara and reflects the military’s continued push to disrupt their networks and deny them safe havens.
Bakatsine commended the troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA for their “resilience, professionalism and sacrifice in the fight against terrorism,” and wished the injured soldier a speedy recovery.
As at press time, the Defence Headquarters and the Nigerian Army had not issued an official statement on the operation.
