The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu, has held bilateral talks with Portugal’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Professor Paulo Rangel, on the sidelines of the Eurafrican Forum.
In a statement on her verified X handle on Saturday, Ambassador Ojikwu said Nigeria is ready to deepen collaboration with Portugal in key sectors.
“Nigeria stands ready to deepen collaboration with Portugal in areas of trade and investment, renewable energy, maritime security, digital technology, agriculture, education, defence cooperation and capacity development,” she stated.
She said both parties explored institutional frameworks aimed at strengthening diplomatic engagement, and the need to establish a Nigeria-Portugal Joint Commission as a platform to facilitate regular political consultations and expand bilateral cooperation.
The discussions, she added, also centered on the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) and the Double Taxation Agreement.
“These agreements will help improve connectivity, promote commercial activities, and create a more favourable investment climate for businesses in both nations,” she said.
