Bandit leader Bello Turji has allegedly imposed a ₦30 million ransom and “rainy season taxes” on border communities in Isa LGA, Sokoto State.

‎A post on X by security expert Bakatsine, said the affected villages are: Tabkin Fili, Jazzamiya, Gindi da Tsawo, Baƙar Fuska and Garin Uban Dawaki, all located along the Nigeria–Niger border near Maradi Region, Niger Republic.

‎He said scores of residents, mostly women and children, were abducted during the attacks, with the exact number of captives still unknown. Families, he added, are living in anguish while awaiting news of their loved ones.

‎Bakatsine alleged that the communities have been ordered to pay the levies before farmers could return to their fields.

‎The villages were reportedly accused of sharing intelligence with security forces across the border.

‎He said residents are calling on Nigerian authorities and security agencies to intervene urgently, rescue those held captive and avert a worsening humanitarian crisis.
