Former SDP Chairman Gabam Arraigned in Court Over Alleged ₦740m Fraud

The trial of a former National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Shehu Gabam, over alleged fraud continued on Wednesday before the Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.

‎Gabam, along with Chukwuma Ogbonna and Uchechukwu Uchechukwu, is alleged to have fraudulently converted ₦740 million belonging to the party to personal use.

‎The act is said to have contravened SDP party guidelines, for which the three were expelled from the party.

‎Prosecution counsel, Sandra Agba, told the court that the prosecution team is still working to obtain a key exhibit relevant to the case.

‎The Supreme Court verdict delivered in May 2026 had affirmed Professor Sadiq Abubakar Gombe as the authentic National Chairman of the SDP.
