The trial of a former National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Shehu Gabam, over alleged fraud continued on Wednesday before the Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.
Gabam, along with Chukwuma Ogbonna and Uchechukwu Uchechukwu, is alleged to have fraudulently converted ₦740 million belonging to the party to personal use.
The act is said to have contravened SDP party guidelines, for which the three were expelled from the party.
Prosecution counsel, Sandra Agba, told the court that the prosecution team is still working to obtain a key exhibit relevant to the case.
The Supreme Court verdict delivered in May 2026 had affirmed Professor Sadiq Abubakar Gombe as the authentic National Chairman of the SDP.
