The military has commenced efforts to secure the release of former Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar (retd.), and his wife, who were abducted by gunmen in Katsina State.
A military source confirmed on Saturday that operations were underway to rescue the retired senior officer and his wife.
“Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar and his wife were kidnapped along Matazu Local Government Area while travelling to Katsina. His driver escaped with a gunshot injury,” the source said.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
