Former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

‎In a March 11, 2026 letter to his ward chairman, Tambuwal cited persistent internal crises, leadership disagreements, and divisions within the PDP as reasons for leaving.

‎Tambuwal, who represented Sokoto South Senatorial District, thanked the PDP for opportunities to serve Nigeria.

‎He stated his decision was guided by a desire for a stronger platform built on integrity, accountability, and national development.

‎Tambuwal reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s service, democracy, justice, and national unity, joining the ADC with associates and supporters.
