The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, as Deputy Director-General (South) II of the PBAT/APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
‎
‎This was contained in the Campaign Council list released by the party ahead of its inauguration scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
‎
‎Kalu’s appointment places him among the key figures expected to drive the party’s presidential campaign in the southern region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
‎
‎The appointment is seen as strategic, given Kalu’s position as Deputy Speaker and his growing political influence in Abia State, the South East and the South in general.
‎
‎Political analysts say the development is expected to boost the APC’s campaign efforts in the South, particularly in mobilizing grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
‎
‎The inauguration of the Campaign Council will formally flag off the party’s nationwide mobilization and campaign activities for the 2027 polls.
