Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State, has commiserated with the government and people of Kogi State over the death of a veteran journalist, Alh. Yakubu Mohammed.

‎In a condolence message, the governor said the demise of Alh. Mohammed is a colossal loss not only to Kogi State but also to Nigeria in general.
‎
‎Gov. Bago noted that the deceased made significant contributions to nation-building through his journalism profession that cannot be swept under the carpet.
‎
‎Bago recalled how the late Alh. Mohammed co-founded the Newswatch magazine alongside key media figures like the late Dele Giwa, Ray Ekpu, and Dan Agbese, and his contributions to the creation of Kogi state, stressing that his impact on society cannot be swept under the carpet.
‎
‎The Governor extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the national leadership, and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the loss.
‎
‎He equally prayed that Allah would forgive all the shortcomings of the deceased and make Aljanna Firdausi his last abode, as well as comfort the family of the deceased and the government of Kogi State.
