Former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has called on residents of Abia State to unite behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying it is the surest path to attracting more federal presence to the state.
Onyejeocha made the call on Friday at her country home in Isuochi, while hosting members of the Nkeiruka Onyejeocha Foundation for a prayer session for Abia State and Nigeria.
The former lawmaker, who was recently appointed as Zonal Secretary for Support Group Coordination in the South-East for President Tinubu’s Campaign Council, said Abia must set a new standard in 2027 through collective effort.
“We have to work hard together to deliver President Tinubu in 2027. It is about the progress of our state and our country, and it will require the commitment of every one of us,” she said.
On the occasion, Onyejeocha announced the addition of 20 more students from various tertiary institutions to her foundation’s scholarship scheme. According to her, the beneficiaries were drawn from the ten wards in Isuikwuato and Umunneochi Local Government Areas, two per ward, to ensure spread across her constituency.
She noted that the new intakes add to the thousands of students who have benefited from the Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha Foundation over the years.
The ex-Deputy Whip of the House of Representatives stressed that her philanthropic interventions were not politically motivated.
“I do not advertise most of the things I do because they have nothing to do with politics. It is what God has directed me to do and I will keep doing them with or without being in politics,” she stated.
She charged leaders of the foundation to ensure the selection process remains strictly on merit.
Onyejeocha, who represented Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency from 2007 to 2023, resigned as Minister in April 2026 to seek a return to the National Assembly and has since clinched the APC ticket for the constituency ahead of the 2027 polls.
