JOS, PLATEAU STATE – Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has called for a renewed national covenant on peace, saying peace is a shared responsibility between government, community leaders, and citizens.

‎”A people at peace is the highest achievement of any government because peace is the soil in which every other blessing grows,” the Vice President declared on Saturday.
‎
‎Senator Shettima made the call in Jos, the Plateau State capital, during the 80th birthday anniversary and public presentation of the autobiography of former Plateau State Governor, Senator Jonah David Jang.
‎
‎Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice President conveyed the President’s goodwill and prayers to the celebrant.
‎
‎He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to a Nigeria where security supports economic opportunity and “every citizen feels at home in every part of the country.”
‎
‎Specifically, Senator Shettima urged Nigerians to reject ethnic profiling, religious hatred, misinformation, and retaliatory violence.
‎
‎”These are the things that tear us apart,” he said. “We must choose instead to build a secure, inclusive, and prosperous federation.”
‎
‎The event drew dignitaries from across the country to honour the former governor and elder statesman.
