Abia State Police Command has advised Abians to be security-conscious and prioritise their safety ahead this year’s Valentine celebration.
In a statement on Friday by the spokesperson of the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Command while wishing Abians a beautiful and memorable celebration, urged people to be accountable for their locations.
The Command advised individuals to relate their exact location, departure itinerary and expected time of return to friends, roommates, or family members.
Abia Police Command urged people to be cautious of food and drinks they consume this season, saying accepting drinks that were not opened in their presence is wrong just as she advised them not to consume food served while they were absent.
In the statement, DSP Chinaka, appealed to Abians to beware of their surroundings to avoid risky situations. She added that trusting their instincts is critical this season, advising them to leave immediately when in an insecure environment and avoid late night movement.
Also, the Command emphasised the need for people to meet online friends in public places, stating that it is advisable to meet someone they rarely know in a public and familiar location for their safety.
The Command advised people to drink responsibly this season, avoiding excessive alcohol consumption and not drive when they are drunk.
