Umahi’s Son Indicates Interest to Run for Chairmanship Position of Ohaozara LGA

Osborne Umahi, son of the current Minister of Works and a former Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has indicated interest to contest the chairmanship election in Ohaozara Local Government Area ahead the August 2026 council polls in Ebonyi State.

Osborne, picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form at the APC State Secretariat in Abakaliki.

‎Newsbuka reports that he was accompanied by party stakeholders, youth groups and supporters from Ohaozara Local Government Area.

‎Osborne, was received by members of the APC state executive committee led by the state chairman, Mr. Stanley Okoro-Emegha.
‎
‎Speaking during the event, Okoro-Emegha said Umahi is an intelligent and capable young politician and businessman. He expressed confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership and take Ohaozara Local Government Area to greater heights.
‎
‎Responding, Osborne Umahi appreciated the people of Ohaozara for nominating him to contest for the chairmanship position. He assured them that he would not betray the confidence reposed in him.
‎
‎He also promised to discharge his duties diligently, fairly and without fear or favour if elected.
‎
‎Osborne pledged to sustain the legacy of his father in infrastructure development, assuring residents that his administration would focus on projects that would positively impact lives across the local government.
‎
‎Newsbuka reports that the Ohaozara Local Government chairmanship election is billed to hold in August 2026.
