The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of Justice Joseph Oyewole as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Newsbuka reports that the confirmation on Tuesday followed the consideration of a report by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, chaired by Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (APC, Ondo Central).
Presenting the report during plenary, Adegbonmire enjoined the Senate to receive and adopt the committee’s findings on the nomination of Justice Oyewole, a Justice of the Court of Appeal.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had last Tuesday forwarded a letter to the Senate seeking Oyewole’s confirmation in line with Section 231(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
Immediately after receiving the correspondence, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio referred the request to the Judiciary Committee for screening and report.
