‎Police in Cross River Arrest Two Suspects Over Separate Murders

Police in Cross River State have arrested two suspects, Akaninyine Eretus, 40, and Uduak Essien, 35, over two separate murder cases.

‎Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said on 28th May 2026, a man reported his father, Okon Ikon, missing at Creek Town Police Post.

‎Following traditional inquiries that suggested the victim had been killed, a joint team of police, military personnel, and community youths searched a nearby bush.

‎The male suspect was arrested in a hideout, and during interrogation he led operatives to where Okon Ikon’s severed head was recovered.

‎According to the Police, further search led to the discovery of the remains of a second victim, identified as Okon, buried in a separate location within the same bush.

‎ASP Eitokpah said the suspects are in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and circumstances of the killings.
