Cole Palmer says he and new Chelsea teammate Morgan Rogers will be “doing it together” — despite joking that Rogers could face “bailiffs at his door” for copying his trademark ‘ice cold’ celebration.
The England pair came through Manchester City together and are reunited at Stamford Bridge after Rogers signed from Aston Villa earlier this month in a record deal for a British player.
Rogers claims he was actually the first to use the celebration in a professional game while at Middlesbrough. But Palmer trademarked ‘ice cold’ with the UK Intellectual Property Office in 2025.
Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers are good friends off the pitch and will now be playing together at Stamford Bridge, maybe even doing the same celebration.
Speaking to reporters, Palmer laughed off any trademark drama: “We’ve not even spoken about it. It’s just one of them. He does it, I do it. I’ve trademarked it so if he tries to do anything, he’ll have bailiffs at his door. No, we’ll do it together.”
The 24-year-old also revealed he played a role in getting Rogers to Chelsea.
”We always speak and when I heard Chelsea were trying to sign him, I was texting him even more persuading him to come. He was probably sick of me by that point! I’m glad he’s here now and I’m looking forward to sharing the pitch with him,” Palmer said.
”He told me straightaway that he was coming, but we kept it to ourselves. It was a difficult secret to keep before it was announced!”
Palmer and Rogers came through the England youth teams together. Only Rogers made Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad this summer. Palmer admitted he watched the tournament but “fell asleep” during England’s 3-2 win over Mexico at the Estadio Azteca — a 2 a.m. BST kick-off.
