‎‎Governor, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has ditched the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

‎Adeleke’s resignation was announced in a statement on Monday night by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

‎According to his spokesperson, the letter conveying his resignation was addressed to the PDP Chairman for Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde of Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State.

‎Newsbuka reports that the spokesperson did not reveal the party Mr Adeleke plans to join.

‎However, reports had emerged that Mr Adeleke made efforts to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) and had the support of President Bola Tinubu to do so.

‎The Osun State governorship election will hold next August with Mr Adeleke seeking second term.

‎Elected on the platform of the PDP, Adeleke is now set to seek re-election on the platform of another party.

‎With this resignation, Mr Adeleke has become the latest state governor to quit the PDP, amidst reports that more will do so.
