Dr. Nyerere Anyim, APC chieftain and Abia’s 2015 governorship candidate, has lamented the poor state of infrastructure in Abia South Senatorial District, citing crumbling roads and erratic electricity as major hurdles to business growth and living standards.
Speaking at his Agburuike Isi-ugwu village in Obingwa LGA, Nyerere noted that despite PDP’s 26-year and APGA’s close to 4-year hold on Abia South Senate seat, the district still lacks basic amenities. “It’s disheartening that after 27 years of democracy, our people still suffer,” he said.
Nyerere pointed out that effective representation is lacking, and the lawmaker’s role includes: attracting projects that benefit the people.
While citing decayed infrastructure, he said, “You cannot but weep for our people for a wasteful 28 years of ineffective representation in the senate.”
Nyerere who said he is throwing his hat into the ring for the 2027 senate seat, aiming to reclaim the mandate, added, “A voice is saying, who shall I send? I’m here, ready to wipe your tears if given the ticket,” he declared.
Nyerere appreciated some state and federal lawmakers in the country for recent empowerment programmes, emphasising that the lawmakers have doled out mouthwatering empowerment programmes aimed at ameliorating the sufferings of the masses.
