Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has vowed to strengthen security around the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, following a recent terrorist attack on the institution.
Mutfwang spoke on Friday at NIPSS while joining Vice President Kashim Shettima at the institute. He extended condolences to the families of three security personnel killed during the attack.
“They died protecting not just an institution, but a symbol of Nigeria’s leadership, strategic thinking, and national development,” the governor said. “Their courage and sacrifice will forever be remembered.”
He commended President Bola Tinubu for the swift intervention and decisive commitment to reinforce security around NIPSS and other critical national assets.
Mutfwang saluted the management, staff, and participants of Senior Executive Course 48 for their courage and resilience during the attack.
He described NIPSS as the foremost centre for policy formulation, leadership development, and strategic thinking in Nigeria.
“As a government, we recognize the strategic importance of NIPSS to Nigeria’s future. While criminals may attack physical structures, they can never destroy the ideals and vision NIPSS represents,” he stated.
To complement federal efforts, the governor said his administration is implementing immediate interventions.
These include enhancing street lighting, providing logistical support, and strengthening security operations in collaboration with security agencies along the Kuru-Vom axis.
He assured residents of Plateau State and the NIPSS community that his administration remains committed to protecting the institute and other federal facilities in the state.
Mutfwang also commended the Director-General of NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo, for proactive steps to review the institute’s security architecture, and urged participants of SEC 48 to remain steadfast.
“As we honour our fallen heroes, let us remain united to defeat those who seek to spread fear. Their sacrifice must inspire us to build a stronger, safer, and more resilient nation. May their souls rest in perfect peace,” he added.
