Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has approved the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Meribole as the Acting Secretary to the State Government.
The appointment takes effect from January 1, 2026.
Dr. Meribole currently serves as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects.
A statement made available to journalists on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, said to ensure seamless transition, the handover process will commence on Monday, December 15, 2025.
Ukoha stated that during the transition period, Professor Kenneth Kalu, will work in synergy with Dr. Meribole to ensure the continuity of government operations and the smooth execution of the administration’s policies and programs.
The State government added that this arrangement follows the approval granted by Governor Alex Otti, for the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu (FCA), to proceed on a leave of absence.
The CPS to the Governor also conveyed Governor Otti’s appreciation to Professor Kenneth Kalu for his dedication and outstanding service to the people of Abia State.
