Kwara State Government has condemned in strong terms the deadly attack and killings in some communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is deeply saddened by the loss of lives.
The Governor described the attack as a cowardly act targeting innocent civilians, stating that the incident was a desperate move by terrorist elements trying to distract security agencies, especially as counter-terrorism operations are ongoing in different parts of the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq noted that security forces have continued to record significant successes in dismantling terrorist and kidnapping networks across Kwara while sympathising with the people of Woro and Nuku communities, particularly families who lost their loved ones.
He reassured residents that the state government remains steadfast in its duty to protect lives and property.
Newsbuka gathered that several houses were burnt during the violent invasion, leaving many families in mourning.
Meanwhile, security sources said troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside forest guards, have been deployed to the affected areas to restore calm and forestall further attacks.
Reports say the attackers allegedly came from Borgu in neighbouring Niger State.
