‎Kebbi Govt Sets up Committee to Probe Recent Fire Outbreaks in Schools

The Kebbi State Government says it has established a high-level committee to probe recent fire outbreaks in schools across the state and suggest measures to prevent their recurrence.

‎This development was announced in a directive from the Office of the Executive Governor and communicated through the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy on January 14, 2026.

‎In a statement signed by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Kebbi State Governor, on January 15, 2026, the committee is chaired by the Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad Sakaba.

‎Other members include the Chairman of SUBEB, Prof. Sulaiman Khalid; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education; and representatives of the Police, DSS, and State Fire Service while the Executive Director of the Security Management Agency will serve as secretary.

‎The state government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting students, teachers, and school facilities, and assured residents that steps will be taken to prevent future incidents.
