‎Join in Making Nigeria a Country with True Federalism, Gov Makinde to Igbos

Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde of Oyo State has called on Nigerians to unite in calling for true federalism in the country where every citizen will enjoy equal treatment regardless of their ethnic affiliation.

Makinde made this known at Remeritona Hotel, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State during his 58th birthday celebration and book launch organized by the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South East, Chief Ali Obasi Odefa.

‎The Governor while calling for true federalism and unity in diversity through which every Nigerian citizen will enjoy equal treatment irrespective of their tribe and ethnicity, hailed Ndigbo for the special recognition accorded him in the region.

‎Makinde stated that the recognition given to him underscored the veracity of the handshake across the Niger in Nigeria, emphasising that his visit was in line with God’s plan.

‎He lauded his host, Chief Odefa, whom he described as a bosom friend and adviser in the area of politics, disclosing that the imprints of Igbo people could be seen in every sector.

‎Makinde urged the region to strive toward making Nigeria a nation with practical federalism irrespective of party affiliation.

‎‎On his part, Ebonyi State governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, represented by the state deputy governor, Mrs. Patricia Obila, described the book, The Seyi Makinde Story, as a compendium of knowledge and urged the attendees to avail themselves of the valuable message therein by buying the book.

‎He appreciated his Oyo State counterpart for what he described as the good work noticed in all parts of Oyo state especially in areas such as infrastructure, education, health and other sector.

The host, Chief Odefa, in his speech described Engr. Makinde as a courageous and detribalized man, whom he (host) had immortalized by naming one of his sons after the Oyo State governor and thanked everyone for gracing the event.
