The Hunters Group of Nigeria has accused officers of the Nigeria Police Force of assaulting one of its members in an unprovoked attack on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the group said the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. and left the victim seriously injured and unable to walk unaided.
According to the statement, the hunter was allegedly beaten by police personnel without provocation or known offence. The group claimed the officers later transported him to a hospital after noticing the severity of his injuries.
The organisation said the assault was part of a pattern of similar incidents involving its personnel. It added that it had consistently urged members to operate within the law and had sought peaceful cooperation with security agencies.
The Hunters Group called for an investigation into the incident and urged relevant authorities to take appropriate action. Photographs purportedly showing the victim’s injuries were attached to the statement.
Efforts to obtain the reaction of the Nigeria Police Force on the allegations were unsuccessful as of press time.
