A former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar says his son’s decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, is a personal choice.

‎Recall that Atiku’s son, Abba Abubakar, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC on Thursday and promised to work to ensure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

‎Reacting to his son’s decision, Atiku said that such choices are not unusual in a democracy, stating that he does not coerce his children in matters of conscience.

‎Speaking further, Atiku Abubakar added that the decision of his son Abba Abubakar to join the APC is entirely personal.

‎He admitted that in a democratic setting, such choices are neither unusual nor alarming, even when family and politics intersect.

‎Atiku Abubakar noted that his only concern is the poor governance of the APC and the severe economic and social hardships it has imposed on the people of Nigeria.
