A former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar says his son’s decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, is a personal choice.
Recall that Atiku’s son, Abba Abubakar, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC on Thursday and promised to work to ensure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Reacting to his son’s decision, Atiku said that such choices are not unusual in a democracy, stating that he does not coerce his children in matters of conscience.
Speaking further, Atiku Abubakar added that the decision of his son Abba Abubakar to join the APC is entirely personal.
He admitted that in a democratic setting, such choices are neither unusual nor alarming, even when family and politics intersect.
Atiku Abubakar noted that his only concern is the poor governance of the APC and the severe economic and social hardships it has imposed on the people of Nigeria.
