OWERRI – The Imo State Government has successfully carried out its first robotics-assisted surgery at the Robotics Center of the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma.

‎Governor Hope Uzodimma disclosed this in a post on his official X handle on Friday.

‎He said the patient is stable, recovering quickly, and responding well to the procedure.

‎“It was quite a success, as the scheduled robotics-assisted surgery was duly carried out at the Robotics Center of the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma. I am pleased to report that the patient is stable, recovering quickly, and responding well to the procedure,” Uzodimma said.

‎The governor commended the team of medical specialists, led by Prof. Ekwueme, for their professionalism and dedication in ensuring the success of the “groundbreaking procedure.”

‎He described the achievement as “another significant step in our drive to providing Ndi Imo with access to modern, quality healthcare.”

‎“My covenant with the people of Imo State remains firm: to make life more meaningful and improve the quality of living across every sector. We will continue to identify areas requiring support and take deliberate steps to address them,” he added.
