A young girl of about 15 was almost crushed on Thursday morning by a tipper driver in Ndiolumbe Autonomous Community, Isiala Ngwa South LGA of Abia State.

‎The incident which occured at the popular Ahia Orie Market, drew the attention of traders at the market, indigenes of the community as well as passers-by.

‎An eyewitness, and a former President General, Ndiolumbe Development Union, Comrade Christian Ndukwe, said the incident was not caused by speeding as people believed.

‎He said the tipper driver was avoiding hitting an old woman on a bicycle, adding that unfortunately, he did not take notice of the young girl who was on top of her motorcycle negotiating the cost of a commodity with a trader.

‎Comrade Ndukwe, said at this point, the tipper driver hit the motorcycle of the young girl, dragged her to a nearby kiosk in the market, noting that the kiosk played a huge role as it prevented the tipper from destroying goods inside the kiosk and also crushing the young girl to death.

‎Ndukwe added that it was at this point that the young girl came out from beneath the tipper, sustaining minor injuries.

‎He revealed that those at the scene of the Incident hurriedly rushed the young girl to an undisclosed hospital where she is receiving treatment.

‎The former community leader thanked God that no life was lost in the unfortunate incident, informing that it would have led to further damage or loss of life if the owner of the kiosk had resumed business for the day.

‎Other indigenes of the community who spoke to Newsbuka on condition of anonymity, made strong case for those who trade or display their goods close to the main road to shift back a little for their safety as the Old Ururuka remains a federal road that is always busy
