A family in Amizi Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, has appealed to the state government and security agencies for assistance and justice following a violent attack that left two members seriously injured.

‎Mr Okezie Chukwudi informed journalists that his wife, Mrs Ijeoma Okezie, sustained a severe injury to her left hand during an attack at their residence on 27 January 2026.

‎He said the incident began around 5pm when his son was chased from the family compound and threatened by a neighbour.

‎According to Chukwudi, when he stepped outside to understand what was happening, two men armed with machetes entered his compound and issued threats. A third individual later joined them, and the trio allegedly attacked Chukwudi and members of his family.

‎During the incident, Mrs Ijeoma Okezie was injured while attempting to protect herself, while Chukwudi said he was restrained and wounded on the head. Both victims were rushed to hospital for treatment.

‎Speaking from the hospital where his wife is receiving care in Umuahia, Chukwudi called on the Abia State Government to assist his family with mounting medical bills, including the cost of tests, scans and surgeries, which he said run into millions of naira.

‎He also urged the Nigerian Police Force to ensure a thorough investigation and the arrest and prosecution of all those involved. Chukwudi expressed concern over alleged threats from individuals he described as accomplices, and said accountability was necessary to deter future acts of violence.

‎Mrs Ijeoma Okezie, who also spoke briefly, thanked God for sparing her life and appealed for prayers and support from the public as the family continues to recover from the ordeal.

‎The family is seeking assistance and can be contacted through Mr Okezie Chukwudi on 09068180019 or 07034513027. Donations may be made to his UBA account, number 2163884950.
