Ahead the FCT council election scheduled for Saturday, 21st February, 2026, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the deployment of it’s personnel, Army, Air Force, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS) as well as other sister agencies within the nation’s capital.
The Police Command has also announced restriction of movement between 6:00am and 6:00pm on election day.
A statement issued by the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the force said the deployment of personnel was part of its comprehensive operational order for the Area Council Election.
The statement said,”This massive deployment has enjoyed a rich exchange of operation and human resources from Sister security agencies, comprising of the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Air Force, Nigeria Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among others.”
The statement revealed that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc., also charged all deployed officers to maintain the highest level of professionalism and ensure adequate security coverage at all polling units and collation centres in order to guarantee a peaceful, free, and fair electoral process.
He warned that officers must remain vigilant, impartial, and courteous in the discharge of their duties, while respecting the rights of all citizens.”
The statement urged FCT residents to cooperate fully with security personnel and comply with security operations guidelines during this period.
The statement also enjoined all residents of the FCT to remain law-abiding and come out to exercise their civic responsibility peacefully and without fear, as adequate security measures have been put in place.
