A cleric, Venerable Chukwudi Nwakanma of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Ohokobe/Umuohu (Ndume-Ibeku Parish), Abia State, has identified Christ’s Spirit as the foundation of true Christian victory.
In his sermon on Sunday, anchored on John chapter 6 verse 63 and Joshua chapter 5 verse 13, with the theme “Christ’s Spirit, the foundation of true Christian victory — the Joshua example,” he said the Spirit of Christ is indeed the foundation, noting that as believers, Christians are running a race, a pilgrimage that will end in heaven.
According to him, there is no way they can run the race without anchoring their trust in God and having the Spirit of Christ, adding that God will grant them the spirit to run the race well if they trust in Him.
He added that the Spirit of God is also the Spirit of Christ and that the Spirit of Christ will always lead those who trust in Him.
The Spirit, he said, gives believers the power to function. He urged Christian faithful to approach their problems with the Spirit of Christ, saying when they do that, such troubling situations will be surmounted.
He further identified good use of scripture, relying on teachings by genuine servants of God and Bible studies as keys through which believers can have true victory, saying the keys will also ensure they have the Spirit of Christ in them to face their problems.
Ven. Nwakanma also said they must accept Christ Jesus wholeheartedly and, if they accept Him, they must abide in Him.
He urged them to be immovable and stay firm in Christ and not move from pillar to post, to be filled with the Word of God and to be obedient to God’s Word without being partial in obedience.
