A former Senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has said the continuous calls for the sack of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle is politically motivated and unnecessary.
Sani stated this in an X post on Wednesday.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu has received criticisms over his failure to remove Matawalle following Monday’s resignation of Badaru Abubakar on health grounds.
Calls for his resignation or sack have intensified since the resurfacing of a video showing the former Zamfara governor saying not all bandits were criminals.
But reacting to these calls, Sani said Matawalle has performed creditably, particularly in the handling of the Kebbi schoolgirls abduction saga, and should be appreciated rather than vilified.
Sani also hailed the appointment of Musa as the new Defence minister.
