Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has written to the Nigerian Senate seeking it’s consent for the deployment of Nigerian troops to Benin Republic.
According to Tinubu, the troops are to embark on a peace mission in response to the ongoing attempted coup in Benin.
Recall that there was a coup attempt in Cotonou following an attack on President Patrice Talon’s residence in the Le Guézo neighbourhood early Sunday.
The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, had carried out coordinated operation alongside Beninese authorities in an attempt to contain the coup
