‎Benin Republic: Tinubu Writes Senate, Demands Approval to Deploy Troops

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has written to the Nigerian Senate seeking it’s consent for the deployment of Nigerian troops to Benin Republic.

‎According to Tinubu, the troops are to embark on a peace mission in response to the ongoing attempted coup in Benin.

‎Recall that there was a coup attempt in Cotonou following an attack on President Patrice Talon’s residence in the Le Guézo neighbourhood early Sunday.

‎The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, had carried out coordinated operation alongside Beninese authorities in an attempt to contain the coup
