Police in Bauchi State have arrested one suspect in connection with an inhuman act captured in a viral video currently circulating on social media.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, said the attention of the police was drawn to the disturbing video, which showed the confinement and inhuman violation of an adult female by unidentified individuals within Bauchi state.
According to the statement, the arrested individual is believed to be the host suspect, while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the principal perpetrators.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has condemned the barbaric act and warned the fleeing suspects to surrender themselves immediately.
He pledged that the Nigeria Police Force would not relent in its efforts and would ensure that all those responsible are arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
In a viral video, a young man was seen administering 50 lashes to a woman alleged to be his girlfriend but the offence for which she was punished has not yet been disclosed.
