Bandits on Tuesday night attacked Dansoda village in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing about 15 residents and setting several houses and vehicles ablaze.
Quoting residents, security expert Bakatsine in a post on X, said the attackers invaded the community late Tuesday night, shooting sporadically, unleashing violence which left many families devastated.
According to him, the attack caused widespread destruction as homes were set ablaze while property were destroyed during the raid.
As at press time, the exact number of people injured or abducted during the attack is yet to be confirmed.
It was further gathered that during the raid, many residents fled into surrounding areas for safety.
Bakatsine posted, “The latest incident has renewed fear among communities across the area, with residents expressing concern over the persistent insecurity.
”The attack also raises fresh questions about the effectiveness of recent peace arrangements, as bandits continue to strike several communities across the Katsina South Senatorial District despite a peace deal reached weeks ago between bandits and stakeholders from local government areas in the district.”
