Following his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated former Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu.

‎In a statement on Friday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the party described the appointment as a recognition of Dr. Ikpeazu’s experience in public service and his contributions to governance during his tenure as Governor of Abia State.

‎The Abia APC noted that his new diplomatic role presents another opportunity for him to serve the country and contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Spain.

‎It expressed optimism that Dr. Ikpeazu would bring his wealth of administrative experience to bear in advancing Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic interests in Spain.

‎The party wished him success in the new assignment and prayed for wisdom and good health as he undertakes the responsibilities of representing Nigeria abroad.

President Bola Tinubu had approved the postings of 65 ambassadors, comprising 31 non-career and 34 career diplomats, to Nigeria’s foreign missions across the world and the United Nations.

The envoys had earlier been confirmed by the Senate in December 2025 following their nomination by the President.
